Our Garden

Now that I am a stay at home mom, I have time to do things that I have always wanted to but never had the time.  One of those things was to start a garden.  So my husband and I did some research on growing plants in our area.  We decided to build our own garden bed.  We just started with one.  It is our first year and we didn't want to get ahead of ourselves.

We had started out with a few plants that we had started inside our home.

From left to right, we have broccoli, sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes and Roma tomatoes.

We went ahead and planted green beans and onions straight into the garden bed.  I'm hoping to transplant the others we started inside to the bed outside next weekend.

The green beans.

The onions are harder to see, but here is a closer look at one popping up.

It's hard to see but it's there.  I promise.  Hopefully i'll get to post more updated pictures of the garden next week.  It's been cold here the past few days so i'm not sure if I will get to plant more this weekend.

Back to Blogging

We completely dropped the ball on blogging at the end of my pregnancy and continued to stay away until our son turned 3 months old.  Anyone that has kids should know how busy things can get and the importance of giving your newborn 100% of your attention.  Now that he is 3 months old, we feel that it is time to get back to blogging.
To catch you up, our son was born the night of November 14th at 9:11 pm.  He weighed in at 9lbs 11oz.  We named him August Mikel.  A somewhat unique name as we are constantly reminded.  We did not choose this name lightly.  As soon as we found out that our baby was a boy, I fell in love with the name Augie.  My husband liked it too.  BONUS!  The only thing that I loved more than the name Augie was my father, who was well know as Gus.  He passed away 3 years ago.  I wanted to honor him by passing on a part of his legacy to my youngest son who never got to meet him.  So August just seemed to be the perfect fit for us.  We know that the name isn't for everyone but it is perfect for us.  Mikel is my husband's middle name so we chose to pass it on as our son's middle name.  Mikel is pronounced Michael.

Baby #3 update - 27 Weeks

As of yesterday, I am 27 weeks pregnant with baby number 3.  He is growing like a weed.

Sorry about the mirror picture and cutting off my head.  I really do hate to post a dreaded mirror picture but you have to do what you have to do.

Justin has reminded me that "we" are having a baby, so I wanted to make sure to keep you all updated on his bump.  I feel like the weight isn't dispersing evenly between us.

Well, we are finally here.  We have been pretty busy unpacking and getting settled in.  We still aren't finish unpacking.  It is going to be a slow process.  Right now I am trying to concentrate on getting everything into the room that it goes in.  Then I will worry about organizing and possibly even hanging some things up.

The hubby got off work early on the 26th of July so we were able to go to the beach.  It was such a great distraction for the day.

Lexie loved playing in the sand...

And so did her daddy.

The perfect way to end our first week.  I think we are really going to love it here.

My days seem to be filled with unpacking, laundry, cooking, cleaning, and some extra special Lexie time.

She dresses up for me.

She gives makeovers to our dog Lilly.  She is so imaginative and entertaining.  I love getting to spend all of this extra time with my little Lou Who.

Gavin arrived about a week later.  He was so excited about all the little boys in our neighborhood.  We haven't really had neighbors for him to play with before.

The hubby took the training wheels off Gavin's bike and taught him how to ride so that he could keep up with the older boys.

Proud momma moment!

It has been a great 3 weeks so far.  Looking forward to the weeks to come.

It's offical!

We will finally be joining the hubby in Florida!  I plan on leaving early tomorrow morning.  It will just be my little Lou Who and me for the ride.  11 plus hours trapped in a car with my 4 year old isn't my favorite idea but at least there is our new life waiting for us at the end.  I'll try to remember to take pictures if my camera will let me and then post them on Sunday.

Waiting Game

It has been almost a year since my husband left for basic training on (my favorite Aunt's birthday) August 13th.  Which means that it has been almost a year since my husband and I have resided under the same roof.  Besides little visits inbetween, our family has been seperated for far to long.  Today I am patiently awaiting news as to when we will finally be able to make the car ride down to Florida.  I'll keep you updated good news or bad.
